Spiritual desert |
| Algeria is a vast country with many natural beauties to behold. Its most famous natural wonder is the Sahara Desert. Thousands of tourists travel to the country each year to see and experience this awesome masterpiece of creation. While the desert extols God’s workmanship all around, at the same time, its harsh climate and environment can be deadly. The Sahara is a perfect illustration of the spiritual lives of the Algerian Arabs. The people live in a spiritual desert. They keep digging in the sand dunes, only to find more dust and sand but no refreshing, life-giving water. They are looking in the wrong place. Instead of searching for water in the oasis, they are trapped in the sandstorm that blinds them. Yet the Algerians have not been forgotten by the Lord. The Savior creates “blossoms in the desert.” Please pray this promise for them: “When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue is parched with thirst, I the Lord will answer them. . . . I will open rivers on the bare heights, and fountains in the midst of valleys. I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water” (Isaiah 41:17-18). http://imb.org/main/pray/ |
